Accreditation Drive Targets 10 Key Courses in Ganye

Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa George Farauta, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening quality education through full accreditation of academic programmes across its tertiary institutions.

She made this known on Monday while receiving an accreditation team from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in her office.

The team is currently in the state to assess programmes at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye, with ten courses lined up for accreditation. These include Animal Health Production, Agricultural Technology, Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering, Public Administration, Forestry Technology, Fisheries Production Technology, Home and Rural Economics, Account and Audit, Science Laboratory Technology, and Computer Science.

Professor Farauta emphasized that the administration of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri remains deliberate in upgrading educational institutions to meet national standards.

She stressed that producing graduates from unaccredited programmes undermines their competitiveness in the labour market, noting that the government has taken proactive steps to ensure all courses meet required benchmarks.

According to her, education remains a top priority of the Fintiri-led administration, with a focus on producing competent and certified graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to society.

Earlier, the team leader, Fatima Kabir Umar, explained that the visit aligns with NBTE’s statutory mandate to accredit programmes in tertiary institutions. She disclosed that ten courses have been submitted for assessment at the college.

Dr. Umar added that the board remains committed to ensuring institutions produce globally competitive graduates equipped with relevant skills for national development.
